Synaesthesia
Thanks Katie for introducing us to this fantastically interesting topic! We were a bit rushed today to share our own personal thoughts on this, so maybe we could continue the dialogue here! The LINK below is the one Katie mentioned at the end of her presentation. For the Wednesday class - don't miss reading this!
Bye for now...

Fascinating.
loved.loved.loved.loved this topic/presentation. It was really interesting and I think it really made everyone sit up and take notice. I'll probably read more about tomorrow while i'm sick at home, coughing myself to death:]
I agree with both of u! Also, this topic gave me loads of ideas to write about! Syaethesia is AWESOME!
It is interesting how our brains work.
Very cool......When I used to think of numbers I'd think of different stuff....Like seven was a elephant in a too too tight rope walking with an umbrella, probably form one of those counting books. I do it with other tings too, but I think it's probably just because I'm a visual learner, like when I'm tring to study for a test and stuff, I usually remember what the page looked like that the info. was on. Thats very cool, It must be very interesting seeing all the words just be colourful like that!
i hear colors. always have.
That is extremely wicked and cooool!
How could you "hear" colors. This make no sense to me.
Katie-thanx 4 introducing us too this facinating and interesting topic!!! How did you find out about this in the first place????Very cool!!!
explosive cantaloupe.....a question for you....
When you say you hear colours, am I right to assume that when you look at a certain colour, somehow a sound is connected? What kind of sounds? Does it work the other way round for you too? When you hear a sound, do you sense a colour with it? Do you ever experience sounds or colours without the other attached to it?
I've pondered this a bit since Tuesday and I think I have some 'smell' thing .....I seem to attach smells to other sensory experiences. Very interesting....
So much to learn about.....
I refuse to believe this is real
Loooooool General s....at the moment I'm laughing out loud. You can refuse if you want I guess! But tell us why!
The General refuses almost everything. Though I don't blame him for this, since "hearing" colors is not what we experience everyday.
I was just kidding
but that is a bit absurd
I know u were just kidding!=:))
I really did u know...=))
Anyhow, hearing colours must be cool and annoying at the same time....
Oh general S, what would we do without you??????
Oh general S, what would we do without you??????
Well, I'm sure we'd be lacking in a lot of opposing opinions. Aye, that's why we like him so much. He's argument ready at hand with a smile and a professional political visage. He's Simon!

That is me
It is really cool to have that piece of information I guess our brains all work in different ways, like i usually associate colours with tastes and sight with sound I guess it's just something that happens.I definetely think this is a fantastic topic.
It is. It's a phenomemenon.
I haven't been on the blog in forever, but here goes:
If anyone's interested, I'd recommend checking out the Wikipedia article on synesthesia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/synesthesia and also http://cytowic.net/Synesthesia/Synesth__Encyclo_/synesth__encyclo_.HTM - both very good sites to learn about synesthesia.
I really have to read and catch up on this blog!
Its difficult to explain, but to clarify, when i hear a sound there is also a color attached. i dont so much see the color as sense it, but it is still there. for example when i hear a car idling it usually strikes me as red or brown, and the sound of a keyboard clacking is yellow-gray etc. i'm not sure if it is true synaesthesia as the colors seem to sometimes change, but i believe it is more than just simple association.
Also, i forgot to mention - there are a lot of regular sounds i do not experience colors with, but they are nearly always there (and strongest) when listening to music.
