Stratford and ....... now what??

Well.......our much anticipated day in Stratford is now another great McQuarrie memory. I trust it was everything you were hoping for! I'd love to hear your comments on the workshops, the play, and of course the reunion with great friends.

And......now for next year.......
There is no doubt that I will be planning a McQuarrie Stratford trip in May for as long as I continue to work here and, after talking to you yesterday, I think that from now on, it should be open to current students and alumni. How does that sound?? My other idea is that we should do something in the fall. I will be very anxious to hear how you are all doing in Grade 9 and I imagine you'd enjoy hearing each other's stories too. What about a Boston Pizza (or something like that) night in October?? And, for the Harry fans, I'll be in touch here in July! It's going to be a big month!
What do you think?

It was wonderful to see you all yesterday. My classroom hasn't quite been the same since you all 'graduated'!
You are all very special to me......stay in touch, ok??
Peace, love and happiness.....
Ms Watt

Oh, I just absolutely LOVED the stratford trip! It was awesome and I found the workshops much more useful and better than the last one(mainly because i'm not good at dance!) The play of coarse was so wonderful and all the actors and actresses(especailly the evil ones,) were professional and acted so naturally and so well! I thank you Ms. Watt for organizing the stratford trip! And I agree with a reunion or two next year! I can't bear to think that I won't be seeing some of the McQuarrie ppl again!
And about Harry Potter: I will be away all summer for it, but I know that Harry Potter is probably even more popular in Iran so I would have no problem in purchasing the book and watching the movie hopefully! I'm crazy excited! Anyways I dunno why I use so many exclamation marks...I think that my thoughts all sound very loud and over-hyper to my ears. Did what I say just amke sense?
I'm loking forward to grade 9, but I must say that I also don't want this year to end. True, this year isn't the same without enrichment, but enrichment also taught me to enjoy life and also not sit still! I'm loving this year so much and hard to say good-bye to all my friends during grad-because none of them are coming to Cameron. But, on the positive side of things, I also can't wait to see some of the McQuarrie students come to Cameron, so high school is alaso a blast. I mean, change has to happen in life and u can never make enough new friends. I'm sure Cameron is filled with cool ppl. By cool I do not mean the stereotypic cool. Lol.
Looking forward to seeing u all again!
One other comment I'd liek to give about the play is: In my opinion it was dark, evil, and also depressing in its own way, but it was also funny! (pls don't think I'm stone-hearted or anything!)
p.s. q squared we missed u lots!

the 2nd p.s. we also missed any other enrichment person that didn't come! I noticed the absences...but also the ones who were there of coarse!

life will never be the same without McQ. i have met so many interesting people here, and have made some of my best friends here too. i agree with the reunion completely, and perhaps we should have one over the summer. i'm sorry that those people who were unavailable for the trip weren't there (you were missed). my rant isn't as large as sapphire's because i thought that after "Stratford" i would give my mouth a rest.
p.s. for all you Harry Potter fans: don't get your hopes up!

I'm defanitly in support of reunions both this summer and next year!! I really enjoyed the stage combat, especially when our actor started asking" OK, who wants to kick me in the face?"
Can't wait for HP both book and movie!!!! Hey-have any other Cameron people recieved an invitation to the orientation and are you going? I am:) Great seeing everyone again-alas, blog will be only source of communication yet again.

I recieved the invitation to the Cameron Heights orientation too and will probably be coming so I hope to see many of you there!
Purple monkey, of coarse there will be many critisizems of the lates movie and of coarse the last book! Almost EVERY movie and book has a whole nation just waiting to analyze it in zillions of different ways and to also pick out the details and identify the faults. Now why do people critisize movies and books? Mainreasons: 1.) they enjoy attacking people and telling them about the negative sides of things
or 2.) they have studied about how to be a good critic in university, and it may be part of their job.
3.) they like art and english and simply critisize it so that people will learn from their mistakes and do better next time-of coarse they will also try to say something positive about it

Soem critics are very weak and say useless things. Some are awesome and are usually on the right things. Me, a person whol wishes to be a writer and perhaps a movie/play director one day, always devour the various opinions that people give about novels and movies whether they're positive or not. Therefore, in my opinion critisizing that is put ina pleasant and polite way is even great and useful to the Harry Potter director!
Of coarse, it won't be at all nice if it were a critical "bomb" as you say. Hopefully it will a fantastic movie. Of coarse, the movies can never ever be as superb and magical as the books=:) It is however very enjoyable to see your favourite nvoel on the screen...if the movie did not suck however. A friend of mine watched DragonRider or some movie about dragons and whatever and that made her avoid the whole sereis forever.
Purple monkey you will be able to say "told you so" for sure because as I said, every movie does get lots of rotten tomatoes thrown at it-no matter how "almost perfect" it was. People don't want "almost" perfect-they just want pure perfection. A pity if you ask me.

The books are good
But the movies are terrible
Don't go and see the movie please
THey are pathetic
Not accurate at all
THey miss the most important details
I am looking forward to the book though

they do miss many important details but they are not pathetic! and anyways, they are in a way supposed to miss some details according to the author! she doesn't want the clues that she has given be too obvious or something liek that and wants even more people buying and reading the books! i mean imagine if people liked the movies better than the movies! that'd be terrible both for J.k. Rowling and all bookworms!

The Movies realy do make me mad. In the lastest one I felt like yelling at Doumbledoor (sp?) when he burst in the door after Harry was chosen for the tournament and say, "YOu're supposed to be CALM!!!!"
The Books are also getting pretty....hm...whats the word.... I don't know, kinda corny, but I love them anyways. As soon as they come out I no doubt will sit with the book for hours until I have finished it, and then I will no doubt be disappointed that the book is over already, and that it didn't last longer.....the final book has a lot of loose ends to tie up.

Loved Statford!

I totally agree with u on that scence with Dumbledore in it! Me and my cousin had a long discussion over that and we both think this dumbledore sucks! I preferred the one in the last 2 movies so much better!

I haven't written for like ever and I missed the reunion but i just wanted to say to everybody and agree with most of your comments new dumbledore not as good as old one that one sene made me cringe but if the movies weren't being held up the the impossile standards of the uber(meaning way to cool) boooks everyone would think they were ten times btter i myself love the books and the movies and i have already ordered the new book for when it comes out and made plans with certain friends to go see the movie i miss all the mcq ppl lots i hope to see some of you at cameron next year bye

I too think the books are getting...um...wierder, but still good. (My brother disagrees!)
Speaking of my brother, he is coming to McQ. next year, and is SOOOOOOOO excited. Ms.Watt, I'm not sure if you can do this, but if it's possible, could you put him in your class? He needs all the help he can get!!!!

I also love the HP series and it has been my absolute favourite for the past 4 years! No other novel or series has ever been more appealing to me. Talking of that, yesterday I started and finished the 1st novel of a series called "The Power Of Five" The 1st book is called "Raven's Gate." I still liek the HP series, Saga of Darren Shan, and the Silverwing series better, but this one was also FANTASTIC! I loved it, and was absorbed into it! It's AWESOME except it's kind of too similar to HP in some parts.
Only 13 more school days which is both good and also saaaaaad! But the end of the year also brings a new beginning.

Hi Lil Pickle! Mc'quarrie is filled with weirdos. Just joking. At Mc'quarrie you will meet soem of the most fantabulous teachers and students. You also get attached to the place easily and have no problem fitting in. You will, however, never get used to it. Why? Because every day of it is different and UNIQUE! You will ahve the time of your life. I promise you that. And you will love it more than any other academic experience. At McQuarrie you experience complete FREEDOM and you get to express yourself! One peice of advice: Just organize and divide your time well. McQuarrie doesn't give you any homework or anything liek that byt you must realize that you do miss a day every week. So make sure you're on track and you have all your notes complete for tests. It also depends on which u r next year. Anything below 7 is liek driking water. 7 might be bit more tricky but u'll get the hang of it VERY easily. By grade 8 you're totally used to it if u've had past experience at Mc'Quarrie and missing school days. Sometimes u miss tests and get more time to study. I love talking about Mc'Quarrie! I miss it sooooo much!

I missed the orientation. In fact, I didn't even go 2 the open house.
I've never stepped inside Cameron Heights. I'm not here for the next open house either-it's in August?
I'm doomed, aren't I?
As much as I'm excited 2 go 2 Cameron Heights, I'm also not excited. I feel unusually nervous and do not want to say good-bye to so many ppl on my grad night. Change, however, is not bad, and I'm sure that experiencing a whole different style of life-high school-is gonna be quite fun. Everythig has a negative and a positive side to it. Besides, I'll see some MCQ ppl there!

You think...I don't think it is too "overexaggerated" as you say. You'd hope they don't streach (sp?) the truth too much. But if they did, I think it would only push people more to do something. I mean, the results were scary!
Hey! Guess who came to our school?! Shawn! (From Laurel Creek!) He did a presentation on Global Warming! I think it was him who said that some scientist think the earth will just adept, and will be fine. Lots of people disagreed. What do you think?

did anyone watch the live earth concert? that was a good way to raise awareness. but some people think it wasted too much energy to be a "green" event

well, it kind of is weird to call it a "green" event...
i wonder if ppl go 2 see it for the artists or 2 really raise awareness?
i wonder how much energy it used up?
i hope it did raise a lot of awareness.

I watched some of it! I was excited that people are actually trying to raise awarness about our earth, and they did mention many things they were doing to keep the event "green".I don't really think there was anythig bad about it!!

I think it's good to raise awareness, but not enough... It's like saying you're going to paint your house or something and so you might even go and buy the paint, but when it comes to actually doing it, you never seem to get around to it, and are to lazy anyway.

I haven't seen the order of the phoenix yet... How was it? I've just finished rereading all the books in preparation of the seventh.... Should be interesting. I personally think that both Harry and Voldemort are going to die. That way I think it brings good closure (sp?) to the series. She has a lot of problems to fix in the last book with all the horcruxes to be destoyed, how Bill turns out after being attacked by greyback ( the werewolf... I think that's it), and who'll be the new headmaster/mistress, potions master and dada professer not to mention if harry really does go back to hogwarts and if the book even has anything to do with it!!!! Oh my!

Oh, and i heard new headmistress is Dumbledore's Goddaughter, and that dumbledore asked snape to kill him and will return from false slumber...? I don't know, can't wait!

they can't fit everything from the book in the movie, it takes hours to read the book and they can only have like a three hour movie at the most. I finished the book on saturday, we have three copies cause no one in my family could wait! It was sooo good. Rowling has really changed since book one.

And while waiting for something to upload, I thought I'd check the blog and was most excited to see that some of you have written! It was so good to read your words!!! Like running into old friends!! I've had a very exciting Harry Potter month.....tomorrow, I'll post a new blog entry and we'll start a discussion on the book and movie. I loved them both, but there are certainly some things I'd love to hear your opinion on.
For now, I have to head back to webstuff.....I'll see you soon!
ps....Reunion idea is a good one! I thought early fall, so you can share high school stories. Can you wait til then? NPM - can you bring Europe pictures - I can't believe you wrote from France! Anyone else with stuff to share - you too!!!
